Andrea Lucille Pooler brings over 25 years of cross-sector experience in the global jewelry industry, combining craftsmanship, retail entrepreneurship, and executive leadership. She began her career as a bench jeweler and designer and later owned an omnichannel jewelry wholesale and retail business in Brooklyn, which provided her with firsthand insight into the operational and ethical challenges independent jewelers navigate.

Andrea later served as Principal Consultant at Hill & Co., advising manufacturers, retailers, and designers on sustainable growth, leadership development, and operational efficiency. Prior to that, she contributed to James Allen’s evolution as a leader in online fine jewelry by supporting the development of their merchandising, operations, and customer-experience systems.

Today, as Chief Operating Officer of Modani Jewels (Soham Diamonds / S.N.J. Creations) and Editor-in-Chief of The Source, Andrea works at the intersection of ethics, operations, and storytelling. She brings a craftsmanship-first mindset to CEJ’s editorial direction and is an experienced on-camera interviewer, producing and conducting video interviews with industry experts to highlight emerging ethical practices, artisan stories, and supply-chain innovations.

A recognized speaker and educator, Andrea presents at JCK Talks, International Trade Shows, the Women’s Jewelry Association, the Small Business Administration, and other leading industry forums. Her work advances CEJ’s mission to elevate transparency, equity, and sustainability, bridging the art of jewelry-making with the ethical leadership shaping the industry’s future.

Saskia is a Belgo-British jeweller, and established her jewellery business in 1999 in the UK, and relocated in 2009 to Belgium.

She completed her studies in Jewellery Design (1993 – 1998) in the UK, studying in Cambridge and Dundee. Afterwards, she honed her skills on courses in Auckland, New Zealand and Stellenbosch, South Africa, and choosing to set up her business in London in 1998. Designing and creating her bespoke jewellery collections and participating in international shows like at Meesterlijk in Amsterdam; Belgian Art Design in Gent; the Wiener Schmucktage in Vienna and the Milan Jewelry Week, to name but a few.

Bespoke jewellery is where her heart lies and gemstones are a constant in her work, often designing her jewellery pieces around gem. Creating something personal, together with her customers, giving their ideas a three-dimensional form, either from Fairmined gold or remodelling her customers old gold jewellery.

Saskia is a Fairmined licensed brand and EM member since 2018. She has also been awarded the certified craft label by the Belgian Federal Government.

Chloe is the Operations Manager for ANZA Gems, a wholesale company of responsibly sourced gems from East Africa. She graduated from Baylor University in 2018 with a B.F.A. in Fabric Design and received her Graduate Gemology degree from the Gemological Institute of America in April 2023.

Her first day working at ANZA Gems included getting on a plane to Nairobi, Kenya with Monica Stephenson to meet the majority-women artisanal miners in person and witness the brilliance of the Moyo Gems Market Days firsthand. When Chloe is not completely captivated by the array of rainbow gems at ANZA, you can find her hiking trails in Washington, cozying up with a good book, or interviewing fascinating people for her editorial section on The Source.

WRITER

Kyle Abraham Bi’s work involves supporting regenerative business models that move the global economy toward racial, social, and environmental justice.

Kyle holds a BA in Contemplative Studies from Brown University. Since 2017, he’s been the Brand Catalyst for Reflective Jewelry. His work includes SEO/SEM, as well as writing and researching on topics related to the ethical jewelry space. In addition to writing for The Source, he serves on Ethical Metalsmiths’ Action Coalition. He is one of the signatories of 2020’s BIPOC Open Letter to the jewelry industry, and a member of the Black in Jewelry Coalition. In his free time, you can find him exploring every corner of NYC — where he recently relocated.

WRITER

Christina is a goldsmith, gemologist and owner of Christina Malle Jewelry. She volunteers as a writer for The Source and on the Board of Directors of Ethical Metalsmiths. She also serves on the Events Committee of the NY Metro Chapter of the Women’s Jewelry Association.

She graduated with an AB from Dartmouth College, a JD from New York University School of Law and a GG from the Gemological Institute of America. A former human rights attorney, Christina is heartened to see the human rights world and jewelry industry come together. When she is not making jewelry, she is reading, and welcomes suggestions about which books to read next.

Niki is a designer, goldsmith, writer, and activist. She is the founder of Enji Studio Jewelry, an “ethical with an edge” fine jewelry brand based in San Diego, and serves on the Advisory Council of Ethical Metalsmiths.

She holds degrees in marketing and applied design from San Diego State University and a Graduate Jeweler diploma from GIA. Niki is passionate about philanthropy, transparency, social entrepreneurship, unique gemstones and the stories behind them. When she isn’t at the jeweler’s bench or writing, you can find her cooking, reading, or exploring the outdoors with her rescue greyhound.
