Carbon Footprint Considerations for Jewelers

This Living Room Session will highlight the most significant considerations and actions independent jewelers can take to better understand their own carbon footprint and how to reduce it.

The reports seem to get worse - the climate crisis is real, and communities in the Global South, where the majority of jewelry materials come from, bear the brunt of the impact. While large corporations are responsible for the vast majority of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, our participation and in many cases reliance on systems that are still fossil fuel dependent means that exploring solutions and new systems is our responsibility too. Working to reduce GHG emissions while building up the resilience of communities facing climate impacts along our value chains is something that we can do.
